Marine Crime
Marine Crime is undoubtably on the increase, the Home Office advice is to : -
-
Secure It
-
Mark It
-
Alarm It
No amount of physical barriers can deter the determined thief and we have all witnessed people ignoring the sound of an alarm system, so a system that not only sets a siren at the boat but simultaneously sends an SMS to you (and up to 9 other phones) informing of the alarm allows you, with a real interested in the alarm on your boat to respond quickly.
And what about if the boat is towed away? - no possibility of triggering the PIR or door contact - so a system that detects movement of the boat outside of a user defined radius (the GeoFence) and either triggers the siren and sends an SMS or just sends and SMS leaving the thief unaware that he has been rumbled covers this occurance. In addition a system that continues to update you of the boats position, direction of travel and speed means a call to the local Police for them to go to the boat's position, collect it and hopefully pick up the thieves at the same time.
Boat Care
Whether your boat is a heavy investment in time, money or both knowing the 'health' of your boat when you're not with it is not only reassuring but essential in minimising any damage when things go wrong. An early detected leak can in worst cases can stop the boat sinking, knowledge that your onboard batteries have discharged to an unacceptable level will prevent irreversible damage to the batteries or other on-board equipment reliant on their supply. Maybe just knowing that someone has disconnected your shore power could prevent the freezer defrosting or the heater not keeping the boat above freezing. And should there be a fire a smoke detector that alerts you via an SMS message means imediate action is possible.
